Dear Americana Music Lover,

Beginning November 19th, on PBS Stations nationwide (check local listings), Americana’s best will shine in the national spotlight during a special “ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival,” presented by Nissan. Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Gregg Allman, Alison Krauss, Justin Townes Earle, Amos Lee, The Avett Brothers and The Civil Wars are just a few of the artists appearing on the program. Called “the best awards show in the world” by Paste Magazine, the hour long special was filmed live at the Ryman Auditorium on October 13th, 2011 during the sold-out Americana Music Association’s Honors and Awards and features special performances from the genres’ established and rising stars.

Hosted by Jim Lauderdale, with an all-star house band led by Americana favorite Buddy Miller, the show runs the gamut of Americana music. It opens with a moving performance of “I’ll Fly Away,” in tribute to the 10th anniversary of the “O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack, with Harris, Krauss and others, and closes with an uplifting finale spotlighting the legendary Allman. In between are performances by Lauderdale, Earle, Lee, Miller, Plant and The Band of Joy, Candi Staton, The Avett Brothers, Lucinda Williams, The Civil Wars, Elizabeth Cook and Jessica Lea Mayfield. Most are backed by Miller’s ace sidemen, featuring Don Was, Greg Leisz, the McCrary Sisters, along with John Deaderick and brothers Cody and Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars.

The program, described by Emmylou Harris as “the shining star of Nashville and music everywhere,” was filmed by High Five Entertainment and co-produced by its president Martin Fischer and Austin City Limits Executive Producer Terry Lickona.

Philadelphia singer/songwriter Amos Lee’s latest CD Mission Bell debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts the week it was released. Hot on the heels of that success Amos dropped by the Drive studio for an “Up Close” session where he performed an acoustic set of three of his newest songs.
